Javier Molina Outboxes Amir Imam and Move One Step Closer to a World Title Fight

By Anthony “Stacks” Saldaña

Tonight in the last television bout before the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury PPV portion of the card, Norwalk native Javier Molina (22-2, 9 KOs) battled Amir Imam (21-3, 18 KOs) in what many believed was a crossroads fights for both fighters. The Molina-Imam fight was originally scheduled to be a 10 round fight and was moved to an 8 rounder due to time constraints. Imam came out as the aggressor early in the bout as Molina boxed patiently and countered Imam beautifully. The pace continued at the same throughout the fight as Molina countered effectively, and after 8 rounds of a highly contested battle, the Norwalk native walked away with a unanimous decision victory as the judges scored the fight (79-73 and 78-74 twice)
