As the sound of the bell goes off for round one, the crowd bursts into cheer by chanting, “Rocha! Rocha! Rocha!” Make no mistake, we know who the fans at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California were in attendance and rooting for. 2:44 left in the first round, an athletic and gifted Blair Cobbs (15-1-1, 10 KOs), then follows the chants by coming aggressively towards the strong volume puncher Alexis Rocha (18-1, 13 KOs) to make a statement of “Whoooo! The champ is here.” Throughout the second, third, and fourth round, a confident Cobbs would continue to land punches in a much quicker and explosive fashion, eventually swelling the right eye of Rocha. With 2:35 left in the 4th round, Rocha wasted zero time putting the pressure on Cobbs by landing flashier and harder-looking shots.

The bell goes off for the 5th round, both Cobbs and Rocha are engaged on the inside up against the ropes – A BIG left hand, with beautiful forceful power, connects for Rocha and leaves Cobbs in trouble. While Cobbs is left running around the ring trying to survive the remaining 1:43 left in the 5th round, Rocha continues to put the pressure by landing a left hand after the left hook. The fans, again, erupt in chant, “Rocha! Rocha! Rocha!” Rocha fired up, allowing Cobbs to recover from the brutal left hooks, waited patiently in the 6th and 7th rounds for an almost identical scenario that would present itself in the 8th round.

Now in the 8th round, a calculated huge right hook sends Cobbs down into the ropes and onto the ring. With 1:20 left on the clock, Cobbs yet again, hurt and struggling to make it out alive, was trying not to get caught in Rocha’s forceful and powerful left hooks. Rocha aggressively puts the pressure on Cobbs by walking him down into the ropes, letting his hands fly by throwing body shots, right hooks all while trying to connect his left hand. Cobbs gets saved by the bell. And the crowd erupts in chants, “Rocha! Rocha! Rocha!”

The 9th round begins and Rocha dominates the round by landing a big right hook that sends Cobbs into the ropes. Cobbs tries desperately to protect himself by covering and ducking to stay alive, while Rocha begins letting his hands fly again looking for the knockout. Cobbs unable to come back from the punches, the referee stops the fight in the 9th round, with a 0:44 stoppage. While Blair “The Flair” Cobbs might not be the strongest boxer in the game, he was among one of the strongest to continually come back from Rocha’s power punches. With the victory, Rocha proved that he is a contender in the 147 division. While this fight kept you at the edge of your seat, these men both came with one mission – In hopes to one day, fight for a world title and be named world champion.
