Antonio Orozco no-shows weigh-in for Ortiz bout; fight is off

LOS ANGELES — Super lightweight contender Antonio Orozco reportedly did not show up for the final weigh-in for his bout tomorrow against Roberto Ortiz on the undercard of Jorge Linares-Luke Cambell on HBO.

According to sources, Orozco, 29, knew he wasn’t going to make the 140 pound limit and decided not to come down to step on the scale. However, Guillermo Rocha, who manages Ortiz, told Supreme Boxing that an agreement was reached yesterday to change the weight limit to 143.5 because Orozco was having trouble making the weight. Ortiz, who is nicknamed “Massa,” still showed up on the scale and came in under the new agreed upon limit.

Golden Boy and HBO have reportedly decided just to scrap the fight, as it’s too late to find a replacement opponent. It’s likely that one of the previous undercard bouts will be elevated to the co-feature of the event.
