Friday night on a warm, summer evening under the stars at Omega Products International in Corona, California, Thompson Boxing Promotions brought fight fans another edition if it’s “Path to Glory” fight series. The event was headlined by the current undefeated WBC-NABF Heavyweight Champion LaRon Mitchell (15-0, 13 KOs) of San Francisco, California as he made his first title defense against Michael Bissett (14-9, 8 KOs). Mitchell wasted no time in completely dismantling of his opponent. Mitchell dropped Bissett five times in the second round and finished him off in the third as Bissett hit the canvas for the fifth time and referee Jack Reiss called a halt to the bout at the 1:15 mark of the third round. “With the layoff it took me a while to get my timing and range, but my power played into my favor,” said Mitchell “I went in there and did my thing and hopefully next time not over think things, he was open to get hit I just had to adjust on my timing, I’ll be better next time” with the victory LaRon Mitchell moves to (16-0, 14 KOs)

In the Co-main event, NABF Junior featherweight champion Erick Ituarte (17-1-1, 2 KOs) of Santa Ana, California, will also made his first title defense against undefeated Alberto Torres (10-0-2, 4 KOs) of Modesto, California. Ituarte, who is sitting on a ten fight winning streak, won a split decision against Isaac Zarate in May to capture the vacant NABF Junior featherweight title looked impressive early and often. In the early rounds Ituarte landed big body shots and vicious combinations, as the slower outclassed Torres never could find his range. Throughout the middle rounds Torres would become the aggressor occasionally land combinations of his own, but they were few and far between, as Ituarte easily controlled the distance and the pace of the fight. After eight rounds of action the judges returned a scores of 78-74 Ituarte, 77-75 Torres, and 78-74 Ituarte, giving Ituarte the split decision victory. With the victory Ituarte move to (18-1-1, 3 KO’s)

In the feature bout of the evening undefeated junior lightweight Roberto “The Ram” Meza (8-1, 4 KOs) of Temecula, California took on undefeated prospect Giovanni Cabrera-Mioletti (9-0, 2 KOs) of Chicago in a 6-round bout. In a very entertaining back and forth battle Meza and Mioletti stood toe to toe from the opening bell. Meza the local fan favorite pressured Mioletti through much of the fight as Mioletti used his height and reach to counter and keep Meza at bay. Then in 6th and final round Mioletti caught Meza with a sweeping left hook that floored Meza. Meza beat the count and once to feet Mioletti continued with an onslaught of punches landing at will. After six solid rounds of action all three judges were in agreement with the scores of 58-55 declaring Mioletti the victor.
